Joseph Teshera, DVM X

Dr. Joe Teshera graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983, and started practice in White Salmon Washington at a mixed animal practice. In February 1984, he moved to Portland Oregon where he stared his career in equine practice at Pacific Veterinary Hospital. Over the past 30 years the practice has undergone many changes, now currently operating as Willamette Valley Equine Veterinary Services.
With over 30 years of experience, together with current continuing education and advanced training, he is committed to providing state-of-the-art, compassionate and quality service to our patients and clients. Involved in all aspect of equine practice, his major emphasis is on equine reproduction (including embryo transfer), dentistry, general health care, performance medicine and alternative therapies (acupuncture). He is also an adjunct member of the Washington State University faculty as an instructor in the College of Veterinary Medicine preceptorship program.

Jennifer Saunders, DVM X

Dr. Jennifer Saunders has practiced equine veterinary medicine in the Willamette Valley since 1993. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Saskatoon Saskatchewan, Canada in 1991, and completed a large animal medical and surgical internship at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario in 1992.

Dr. Saunders is dedicated to providing top quality care for her patients and preserving long term relationships with clients. She utilizes the latest research and years of her clinical experience to provide the best treatment options for her patients.

Although she is involved with all aspects of equine practice, her primary veterinary passion includes equine sports medicine and lameness in performance horses.

She is an avid dressage rider and has a rich background in Pony Club and eventing in British Columbia. When she is not training her off the track Thoroughbred, she enjoys spending time golfing and traveling.

Suzanne Viviano, CVT – Receptionist X

Suzanne is a Certified Veterinary Technician with Associate’s Degrees in Veterinary Technology and Animal Science from Portland Community College. Over her 30+ year career, Suzanne has worked in Emergency Medicine, Mixed Practice, Small Animal, Exotic and Specialty clinics. She has experience with MRIs, Radio Iodine, Surgery, Anesthesia, Intensive Care, and Laser Therapy modalities as well as experience in Pharmaceutical Sales and Vet Hospital Management. Suzanne was born and raised in Oregon and is now a Canby resident. She has enjoyed owning, riding and training horses since she was 8 years old through 4-H, horse shows, and trail riding. She currently enjoys spending time with her grandchildren on her small family farm menagerie, dancing, and visiting the Oregon coast.

Samantha Ottenbacher, CVT X

Sam graduated from Portland Community College’s Veterinary Technology Program in June of 2011 to become a CVT. She started here at WVE just after graduation and has been an important part of the team ever since. Sam travels with the doctors to assist on farm calls, manages the in house laboratory, and handles inventory and orders for the clinic. In her free time Sam likes traveling, playing Frisbee golf, and watching movies surrounded by her husband, her two cats, and her dog.
