Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy, or ESWT, is a non-invasive, high-intensity, pressure wave regenerative medicine treatment. It is used to relieve pain, speed healing, and improve the quality of healing. The shock waves act as a mechanical force at the cellular level which cause the release of proteins associated with decreased inflammation and increased blood vessel formation; it has also been demonstrated to recruit stem cells. It is effective for the following conditions: tendon and ligament injuries, chronic wounds, bone healing, Osteoarthritis, and Degenerative Joint Disease. Anticipated results can be seen with just 1-3 treatments. ESWT can be combined with other therapies and often increases the efficacy of those treatments, resulting in a reduced quantity or frequency of treatments needed.
